This is so tiring! I’ve tried 5 cafes and shops so far and not one accept me to work there! My plan is to be a waitress or a cashier but it turns out to be not that easy, like mom said the other day.
Another plan is to go to Burger In and Out for a job, but I don’t think they need one either. Nathan suggested that I should go for babysitting either, but I can’t even stand his noises even for some minutes! How can I take care of a baby? Nicho suggested a janitor, now that is the worst!
Night almost fall when I finally catch a bus back home. The bus is full and I have to stand between a working man and an emo girl with a shocking pink hair and black lipstick on her lips. She’s listening to her iPod and I catch a little sound of Marilyn Manson from her headset. It makes me wonder, what if I get a shift in a coffee shop together with a girl like this? Will I ever speak to her face to face?
The bus come to a halt in a sudden, some of the passengers get thrown forward, including this working man with a sleepy condition and he hits me and I hit the emo girl. Uh oh! She also hits a girl in front of her and it continues to the front, just like a domino!
The emo girl turn her head to face me and she growls something I can’t catch. “Sorry, what did you say?” I asked in more like a squeaky voice. She answers in another growl that I can’t catch so I ask her again, It’s not dangerous right? Asking a girl?
“I didn’t catch that.”
“Shut up you fool!” she shouts and the whole bus fell into a complete silent. All the passangers stare at us in a shock expression.
I can feel my cheeks burnt as all the passengers whispering to each other and look at me. O m g! worst moment! I can even hear an alarm sounding in my head telling me that I should get out of the bus, RIGHT NOW!
I exhale sharply when I finally get out of the bus. I’m safe! At least I can escape from the stares. I look around and find myself standing right in front of a small café with a board in front of the door that says “Good Food come with a Cheap Price! Come in and join us in a fun night today! Special discount for ladies every Wednesday!”
Well, it’s Wednesday isn’t it?! I think I should get a drink or two for my hard work today. I cross the street and push the door open. The café is clean and neat and well-furnished, it has a lot of customers too! Well, not that “a lot”, at least for a standard café, they has done a great job. I stare at the menus board that hung above the cashier, “Have you decided your choice?” asks the cashier girl.
“Um.. I saw that special discount for ladies, does that Cappuccino included?” I ask and she nods as an answer. “Well, OK then. One cappuccino and 2 sandwiches.” I order. She raises her neat eyebrows, “Wow! You must be starving!”
“Oh yes I am.” I say in a low cool voice.
I head to a small table in a corner and settle there. I feel more comfortable when the food has arrived and I eat like I never eat in my whole life, I’m starving as hell! And by the way, it’s all because of that stupid job searching!
“Hello! Have we met before?” a voice interrupts my appetite. I look at the voice-owner and nearly choked. There he is, standing right beside me is Ian, the shop keeper in Sanctuary!
“Hi! Yes, yes we’ve met before. I shopped at your store few days ago.” I say.
“Ah yes! You’re right!” he says after some pauses trying to remember me.
“Take a seat please.” What am I doing?
He raises his eyebrows and shrugs and he takes a seat in front of me. He looks more tanned than what I remembered.
“I come here because my friend recommended this place as a cheap yet delicious restaurant.” He explains. “and when I just came in, I saw you and I thought I ever seen you somewhere.” I laugh in a friendly way and then he orders his meals and strolls back to our table.
“So, how’s it?” he asks, pointing at my sandwiches.
“Not bad.” I say and take another bite as a proof.
“So, how come you can visit this place? Do you come here often?” he asks again. And so I explain how I finally got here. He laughed hard at the part when the emo girl shouted at me and when I finally finished my story, his food come.
“And so you’re searching for a job right now, isn’t it?”
“Yes.” I slurped my cappuccino and watch him taking his first bite on a fish steak.
“Actually I have this job for you. But I know it’s not interesting, so it’s pretty normal to refuse this job.”
“No, no! I will take that job as long as it’s not a babysitting or a janitor job!” I say automatically, remembering what the twin said before.
He laughs and says, “no, it’s not a babysitting or janitor, Sanctuary actually need another shop keeper to assist the customer and promoting it as an MLM business at once.” He says.
“Wow! Are you sure this job is available for me?” I ask impatiently.
“Sure! But you have to be interviewed before.” He says again.
“Ok. Anytime! Just call me and I’ll be there for the interview!” and I write my number on a tissue and pass it to him.
After paying my bills, I say bye to him and I left for home. It’s a complete night already.
My Mom is really thrilled knowing that I will be accepted as a shop keeper shortly, although I haven’t been interviewed but I am sure that I can do the interview and I will not spoil it.
After I take a hot bath, I check my e-mails and check some stuffs on e-bay that I have been wanting for so long. A pretty mid-length tube black dress for all occasion! It says. And I have to have it! I mean, not that I go to parties often but still, who won’t need a simple little black dress that can be paired with your silver belt or a long cardigan.
Suddenly, my phone blips. It’s Vi sending me a text message. We didn’t talk in the school and we have officially not contacting each other for 3 days. To be honest, I kinda miss her. Well, not “kinda” but a lot!
So when I get the text message I quickly open it. It says, “Will you forgive me? I’m really sorry! And I miss you too!”
Oh, Vi! I miss you too!
I replied the message, “Maybe…If I got time..” what the hell I’m doing! I erase the text and type it again, “I forgive you Vi, but promise not to do that ever again…”
The phone make a sound again and it’s Vi again, “Yes! Thx Honey! I love you! Could you come to my house tomorrow?”
I replied, “Sure. Why?”
Vi: “I want to make a reunited party for us! =)”
Me: “Well, is it necessary?”
